Auditions

Whether you're treading the boards for the first time or you're a veritable veteran of the stage, here is where you'll find all the information about our upcoming auditions.

Grove Park Theatre operates an Open Audition system - meaning members and non-members alike can all try out for a role. All we ask is that you get in touch with the director to let them know you're interested in taking part - this is also a good opportunity for the director to give you any specific information you might need. Please be aware that if you are successful for a part you must then join the theatre's membership.

So keep checking this page for frequent updates - and why not try out next time? You might find yourself starring in the play rather than simply watching it.

Panto Auditions

Auditions for this year’s panto 'Aladdin and the Lamp' (to be performed 7th December – 5th January – see website for specific performance dates and times – and will rehearse from September onwards) will be held at the Warehouse at Pierce’s Square, Wrexham at the following times:

Junior Chorus – Saturday 21st July 2018 12.00pm – 1.30pm

Senior Chorus Saturday 21st July 2018 1.30pm – 3.00pm (bring tap shoes!)

Principals Sunday 22nd July 2018 11.00am – 4.00pm (approx.)

Please wear comfortable clothing and footwear suitable for doing dance and movement.

Everybody will learn and sing through a musical piece to be introduced to you on the day, and our choreographer (Leah) will teach you a short dance routine. Principals do NOT need to prepare an individual solo song as in previous years. They will be asked to sing individually however.

Principals will need to be 18+ and characters will be based on how many suitable people audition

Principal characters will include:

Aladdin
Princess
Wishee Washee
Widow Twankey
Abanazar
Genie of the Lamp
Slave of the Ring
Sultan
Panda

Character dialogue will be available on the day, but some of the audition will involve improvising as the character. It will be a relaxed and informal audition day and we're looking for people with energy, enthusiasm and a desire to spread the pantomime fun!

If you are unavailable to attend on the 20th July (to audition as junior/senior chorus) or the 21st July (if you are auditioning for a principal role) we will need to see you on an alternative date ASAP.

You will also need to be available for the get-out on 6th Jan 2019.

To register interest, or for further details, please contact director Chris Jones by e-mail atchristopherbjones@btinternet.com

It will be at least as much fun as last year, oh yes it will! See you there!
