Whether you're treading the boards for the first time or you're a veritable veteran of the stage, here is where you'll find all the information about our upcoming auditions.
Grove Park Theatre operates an Open Audition system - meaning members and non-members alike can all try out for a role. All we ask is that you get in touch with the director to let them know you're interested in taking part - this is also a good opportunity for the director to give you any specific information you might need. Please be aware that if you are successful for a part you must then join the theatre's membership.
So keep checking this page for frequent updates - and why not try out next time? You might find yourself starring in the play rather than simply watching it.
Auditions will be held on Sunday 5th March at the Warehouse
There is only one character in this play...Susan.
She is celebrating her 60th birthday by taking a return trip to Australia and the play follows her holiday from the departure gate in the UK to the departure gate in Sydney. Her mission is to find a soul mate.
She wears little make-up, has poor taste in clothes and a fairly catastrophic haircut; she makes no effort to look attractive. She is also extremely funny, likes dancing and can talk the hind leg off a donkey.
Although this play is a monologue, it is divided into thirteen sections, and the part of Susan can be played by up to 6 actors. The character stays essentially the same, but each actor brings their own personality to the part. The final section brings all the actors on stage, together.
The play is your oyster!
If you would like to audition to be part of an ensemble...prepare a page from the script that you think best shows your talents.
There will also be group readings of the final scene; about 1 ½ pages of script.
If you would like to audition for the entire role of Susan please prepare one page from the first six sections, and one from the second.
Susan loves to dance.
Our very friendly, kind and patient choreographer will be there to encourage you all to shake your tail-feathers.
Scripts are available from director, Ade Garratt.
