Daisy Pulls It Off production by Grove Park Theatre

Whether you're treading the boards for the first time or you're a veritable veteran of the stage, here is where you'll find all the information about our upcoming auditions.

Grove Park Theatre operates an Open Audition system - meaning members and non-members alike can all try out for a role. All we ask is that you get in touch with the director to let them know you're interested in taking part - this is also a good opportunity for the director to give you any specific information you might need. Please be aware that if you are successful for a part you must then join the theatre's membership.

So keep checking this page for frequent updates - and why not try out next time? You might find yourself starring in the play rather than simply watching it.

Panto Auditions!

Auditions for this year’s panto 'Dick Whittington'

16th July and 22nd July (see below)

(to be performed 1st – 30th December – see website for specific performance dates and times – and will rehearse from September onwards) will be held at the Warehouse at Pierce’s Square at the following times:

  • Junior Chorus 10 – 11.30am (two teams to be cast)
  • Senior Chorus 11.30 – 1.00pm (two teams to be cast)
  • Principals 12 – 4.30pm (approx.)

Please wear comfortable clothing and footwear suitable for doing dance and movement.

Everybody will learn and sing through a musical piece to be introduced to you on the day by our MD (Rob Stevens), and our choreographer (Leah Tyson) will teach you a short dance routine. Principals do NOT need to prepare an individual solo song as in previous years. They will be asked to sing individually however.

Principals will also need to make themselves available for a potential second session on the morning of Saturday 22nd July. This session may or may not be needed, but if you are auditioning for a principal role then please pencil this into your diary in addition to the 16th July.

Principal characters include:

Fairy Bowbells (a London city business executive fairy)
King Rat (a horrible baddie)
Dick Whittington (principal boy)
Tommy the Cat (Dick's furry friend)
Alderman Fitzwarren / Captain / Sultan (triple whammy)
Alice Fitzwarren (principal girl)
Sarah the Cook (the dame)
Idle Jack (the comic)

Character dialogue will be available on the day, but some of the audition will involve improvising as the character. It will be a relaxed and informal audition day and we're looking for people with energy, enthusiasm and a desire to spread the pantomime fun!

If you are unavailable to attend on the 16th (and the 22nd July if you are auditioning for a principal role) we will need to see you on an alternative date beforehand.

To register interest, or for further details, please contact director Chris Jones by e-mail at

It will be at least as much fun as last year, oh yes it will! See you there!
